automatic profiles

Hi i am wanting to make my site so that when someone joins they can create there own profile and it be shown automaticaly on the site, sort of like what dating sites have etc but not for that purpose. Does anyone here know how I can do this or any software I would need to do such a thing? Any help would be great :D

This would be best achieved by writing ure own php and html.
