We have a very strict "no advertising" rule at WDF. This is due to the number of people that would use this forum soley for their own benefit with no regards to the community.

We have struggled a lot with spam over the years, and sometimes can get a little trigger happy. If it looks like spam, it'll probably get deleted.

Users are welcome to post links to their websites and third party websites when it is relevant to the discussion. However, there are a number of things that we do not allow on this forum.

1) You are welcome to promote personal, non-profit projects / services which are relevant to the board after you have contributed to the community.
2) Do not create threads advertising your company / product / services - this is called spam. The thread will be deleted and you will be cautioned / banned.

I'd like to add one more exception to the No Advertising rule.

There are certain people who are more than welcome to post links to their own sites in their posts if this beneficial to the orginal poster. This is at the moderators' discretion of course.

As an example, and I hope not to embarress him, but Wickham (one of our long-standing members with the 2nd highest post count on the forums) helps out a lot here. And sometimes after giving a rather lengty explanation of the solution to a poster's problem, he links to his own site which has more information on the specific problem.

I don't see anything wrong with this and this is the sort of linking that is acceptable. If it helps the poster with their problem then there's nothing wrong with it.
