Dropdown menu problems in IE6

I am making a website on which I am using all CSS Dropdown Menu's but in IE6 they are not dropping. Does anybody know why this is?

Oh IE6, why are you still alive.... why do you torment us all!?

It looks like the CSS is, in many cases, using a :hover on an element that is not an a. IE6 only supports :hover on a, and no other elements.
