Website idea needing volunteer designer

So I recently became interested in making a website, then went and bought the domain name and a hosting service. I learned html back in high school but it seems that nowadays there are better coding languages out there. I am hoping to find someone who wants to volunteer to help make the site in return for their name/link at the bottom of the pages or someone who also enjoys this type of thing and wants to help run the site

The site is going to be about anime. I want there to be a page for each individual series describing it, forums to talk about them, news with rss feed, and a user system with customizable accounts. The main appeal of this site over others is that you would be able to mark each anime as something like "finished, currently watching, partially watched, haven't seen yet" and then have this list (maybe of small thumbnail images) show up on your user page with your overall stats on how many shows you have seen. Everyone likes making there epeen feel bigger and then showing others just how big it is.

Anyway that is a fairly decent description of my idea. I have an example website which inspired the idea, warcraftpets.com . The domain name I chose is Animeindex.org . I hope someone is interested.

Have you thought about starting out with a blog? They are easy to create and update.

Blog won't cover what I need...

I started working on it a bit and got a simple drop down menu (spacing is off...) going listing some of the main pages. Hopefully it will give other people more of a feel for what I want. I'll keep trying to piece more of it together but I don't really know what I am doing.

A blog is a good idea gracielou32, however it won't encompass everything that is needed.

This is a rather large site simply due to the massive amounts of different anime. The functionality of the site is possible, however this entire site would require a lot of planning so the content is properly organized and everything works the way its suppose to.

You would definately want to use a cms for this. Your host covers Drupal which is my cms of choice simply due to the customization you can have with it.

I would help with this but my plate is full, plus I couldn't spend the time entering in all of those anime shows, it would take just way to long. The only thing I could do is build the functionality of the site which is a big thing on its own, especially for free. So unless you don't mind waiting until December ( I have 3 sites on the go now, work a full time job, and am getting married next month) I can't help. If you can wait I can help and will set you up with an account on my site.

Can you put me down in your to do website que and if I haven't found anyone else you will still help me? Cuz almost 3 months is quite a while and I would like to continue to figure it out myself or see if I can find other interested people. But the chances are good that no one will want to help. :P

As for entering the shows I would be happy to do such grunt work. I don't really expect someone to make me a fully completed site, but am hoping for more of a functional outline where I would be able to fill stuff in myself.

Theres a chance I could get to your site before then. I just figured since I'm working on 3 already and getting married next month that December seemed to be the most reasonable time that I would be able to get to it for sure.
