I would like to create a ecommerce website as ecomonically as possible, but I need the merchandise to be highly customible... I mean if every possiblity was its own product there would literally be millions of items. Would it be possible to create a user interface in visual basic, have that GUI web app accept user inputs and output a price to be added to a shopping cart for the user to purchase?

I think I can make the interface with VB but am not as good with the web developement part. is this something I can use a cookie cutter goDaddy like ecommernce account to do?

If not, can I get a web developer to implemint my VB design to output to a shopping card for <$1000?

Am I crazy, and this will cost me like >$5k?

any advice would be great.... thanks

You might want to consider dashCommerce formerly know as the Visual Studio eCommerce Starter Kit. It is an Open Source project written in ASP.NET

I noticed they support: "Unlimited Product Attributes"

Check out their Feature Matrix:
