Hi folks,

I have some work that I'm looking to outsource to a few freelancers. You will be paid per project completed, and if you show good design and time-keeping skills there is a good chance of a steady stream of work being made available for the next few months at least.

Each project will consist of a relatively simple design, most will be nothing more than a static site with a few pages of content that will be provided for you. You may use templates as the empthasis is on speed and volume, although high quality and at least a shred of uniqueness is needed. A simple header graphic would add a nice touch, so graphic design skills are also needed for this job.

Payment per project will be discussed if I am happy with your portfolio, but as a rough guess we are talking between $30 and $60 per project. Yes you did read that right, it wasn't a typo. I did really say $30 - how outrageous! I am expecting each project to take you no more than an hour to complete, this is really simple stuff and there isn't anything in here I couldn't do myself but I don't have the time.

For the majority of you guys this kind of money isn't worth you getting out of bed, and I respect that. It's not worth it for me either! But there are some people out there who maybe have just got out of college and need a little extra cash. For the right person this is easy money, $30/hour wage if it's done right.

Feel free to express your outrage that I even suggested hiring people so cheap if that's how you feel. Everyone else please PM me your details :)

How many pages is a few pages? You're right it's an outrage :p Having said that I'm sure you'll get a lot of applicants from a certain middle eastern country :D

website in 1 hour?!!! sounds like something one really would want to put in his portfolio
Actually it's a bit sad seeing that coming from a site admin...
If I use a template that will cost me $25 to buy oooh!!! i'll be making $5 per hour! Count me in! ... not

The sites are mainly for small businesses that don't have a lot to say, you know the deal - a contact us page, an about us page, some other corporate crap.

You have a good point there, I still think that there are people out there that need the money and would do it - but I'm interested in what sort of price you think I should charge for this.

EDIT: Just noticed the comment about being a "Site Admin". This is business. You make money by charging the most you can get away with, and paying the least you can get away with. I don't think that this is a slave wage and any designer working with me would still be getting more than working at Walmart.

well by doing this you're encouraging others to do the same. I'm sure you'll be charging around $400-500 at least for those small business sites you're talking about. Having bigger client base or access to potential clients doesn't mean you should totally rip other people off. No offense but that's the way i see it.
You're giving very bad example there, some people who will potentially agree to work with you on those conditions will think that when they will build their portfolio working for or with you they will go out and do the same to other newbies...

Just to be clear, I'm not selling on these sites for $400-500. Yes, I plan on using them to make money - who wouldn't? But if you must know I am giving the sites away to my clients for free in order to tempt them with some of my other services. It's a marketing tactic that for all I know will fail miserably so I'm taking a risk here, I'm hardly ripping anyone off.
