View Full Version : PayPal Return To Merchant Query

Hello,

I have implemented a PayPal payment gateway for a customer but am having problems understanding an issue that has arisen with the callback feature.

The set up is simple; the customer adds their orders to a (internally coded) basket and when the final amount is calculated this is fed into a form for submission to PayPal.

The form contains the return URL hidden field as per PayPal's guidelines. In addition, in the PayPal settings the site owner has set the same return URL in their callback settings.

However - and here's the problem - when someone pays the website does not always process their order. I am assuming that the user is not waiting 5 seconds or manually "returning to merchant".

Surely this isn't necessary as the callback page has been entered into the user's settings??

I'm happy to provide more information if needed but this one has got me stumped and shows a major flaw in PayPal order processing which I can't quite believe exists!

Any help (or even sympathy!) welcomed.
