View Full Version : How Can I Add This Slick Feature to my Website?

Hi everyone,

I'm brand new here, but have read through some posts and it looks to be a great community of people.

Just wanted to give a very brief background, and then I'll get to my question. I'm new to website creation, but I have a registered domain name, have downloaded a wordpress theme and successfully uploaded and installed it to my web host, and am now in the process of learning HTML, CSS, and everything like that (the very beginning of that process, but I guess we all have to start somewhere).

My question is about my Wordpress theme, which I downloaded for free from Wordpress.org. It works fine, but I noticed that other people who have the theme have a very nice...slider type feature (don't know the technical term) at the top of their pages. It shows off their articles (teases their articles, really) with some information of their post and a photo as well.

Here's an example of two sites using the exact same theme as me, but feature this slider effect, which you can see at the top of their home page underneath their website name:

Good Enough Mother (http://www.goodenoughmother.com/)

Remote Patrolled (http://www.remotepatrolled.com/)

I downloaded the exact same wordpress theme (called Mystique) but my site doesn't offer this very cool option. So it looks like it's something they added. I'm curious--does anyone know what that is and how they went about it? Is it code that they added? Is it some sort of plug-in? Something else? I'm new to all of this and am learning more everyday, but I don't understand how to add something like this, and I'd love to be able to do it.

Thanks in advance.
