I'm working on a website where the company needs to upload 20mb .pdf files and then the customer needs to download them. The problem now is that some customers are having problems downloading files this big and I was wondering what would be a better way to do this.

Each file is of 20 MB or the total size of x-number of files is 20 MB?
Personally, I wouldn't download any .pdf more than 5 MB, unless I really need it.
You should transfer all the important data onto the website itself & leave just other information (say, sensitive or forms) for the .pdf.

Alternatively, you could mail them the .pdf or give an external link to download the files, servers through which the download speed is faster.

Please bear in mind that a LOT of internet users don't have a high speed broadband & many still use a dial-up connection. They won't have the patience to download such a huge file.

Having such huge files on your website might also make your site heavy & slow to load. A website which doesn't load in, like, 15 seconds will see 90% of net users closing the site.

Hope I was help. Try talking your client out of such huge files.
Good luck :)
