The two most common design problems in business websites are unclear success metrics, whether it be "produce leads for offline sale", "check out online", "reduce customer service phone calls", etc, and not capturing leads early in the buying cycle so as to automate followup and thus increase sales, as well as help with cross-sell, upsell, downsell, and "viral lift" systems to increase referrals.

Fortunately, these are fairly easy to fix. One other free and easy to fix common
problem with business websites is lack of analytics, or not using them including
goal measurement to make your business websites into online profit centers, and
not just a marketing expense item.

What you are saying certainly makes sense. I find it hard to believe that with all of the advanced reporting offered by Google Analytics a no cost, that more people are not analyzing performance to help improve business decision making.

The beauty of the web over traditional marketing is that you can get direct feedback on the impact of campaigns almost in real time. Why not make use of this?
