I'm writing up a new thumbnail viewer and am thinking of using inline-block.

There are a number of ways to get backward compatibility out of old browsers like IE6. What seems to be the current wisdom?

The options would seem to be:

1) Use inline elements like span and style them.

2) A has layout trick like zoom: 1

3) conditional comments written for IE6 and IE7

4) Does Dean Edward's IE8.js fix this?

I haven't used the #2 option and I don't have IE6 available other than running it through browser shots.

Something here:

Opinions?

li inline-block is the best way for tns. the tn sub description should be set to span display: block, or <p> with an overflow: hidden; you can also make the entire desc clickable with a span restrictor on an<a>
