For those in search of agile resources but skeptical about public cloud security and enterprise readiness, the preferred alternative is often an internal private cloud. Private clouds carry over many of the benefits of virtualization and consolidation but also enhance it with standardization, automation, and self-service access to ensure fast times-tomarket comparable to that of a public cloud. Although reduced provisioning time and increased automation can benefit a variety of workloads, most enterprises focus on dev/test, websites, and high-performance computing workloads. All of these workload types are common and excellent use cases for cloud environments. But all too often enterprises overlook the benefits of putting collaboration tools into private cloud environments. This report outlines the drivers pushing enterprises to private cloud creation, the process for identifying workloads for this environment, and the collaboration tool use case. It is designed as a high-level overview of this topic.
