BUSINESS IS BOOMING AT BEATSUITE.COM PRODUCTION MUSIC LIBRARY FOLLOWING BBC FILM

Business is booming at Beatsuite.com, a cutting-edge North East company that provides high quality royalty-free music over the Internet, after it was featured in a BBC News 24 documentary highlighting the UK's most innovative online companies.

The Newcastle-based firm was featured in 'Net Profits,' a 30-minute documentary which considered how the internet has changed the face of British industry and how companies in regions like the North-East of England are moving away from their declining traditional industries and into the booming technology market. It profiled some of the most exciting Internet companies in the UK and looked at how they had managed to carve out global success.

After being featured on the report, which was shown all over the world throughout the beginning of January, the online production music library www.beatsuite.com has received an increase in orders from the US, Asia and Europe as well as attracting lots of attention from professional music composers interested in becoming part of the team.

Beatsuite.com was chosen for the show from the many successful technology firms in the North East because of its recent success in the E-Commerce Awards late last year. The company won the 'Best Use of Broadband' Category at the North East award show in October and narrowly missed out on an award at the national ceremony a month later.

Beatsuite.com, which was launched by DJ and music composer Steve Bainbridge in November 2004, provides businesses with easy access to high quality production music tracks for a variety of uses. The service makes the process simple by offering its customers a royalty free music license instead of employing traditional music licensing, which can be complicated and time-consuming.

Since its launch, Beatsuite.com has had more than 1 million hits and more than 3,000 users from around the world have subscribed to the service including a number of high profile clients.

Steve Bainbridge, Managing Director of Beatsuite.com, says: "Being profiled on BBC News 24 was fantastic for us and has lead to an increase in sales and customers. Our royalty-free production music library has been very busy since the show was broadcast and we have had lots of interest from companies from the UK as well as South Africa, Sweden, Netherlands and even as far a field as India and Nepal!”

“The reach of the show was truly international and we are still seeing new members register from countries we never even thought of. It was exciting being on TV and hopefully we came across well. The phone has been very busy and we are currently taking lots of orders and working with lots of new companies abroad. We have also attracted interest from the BBC - who may want to use some our music for online learning technology. The TV show has boosted our presence and we have seen a rise in sales following the broadcast"

"We use the Internet and web-based technology for all of our activities whether it's advertising, distribution or other types of marketing. We rely heavily on the Internet as a global platform for our products and services. It has meant that even though we are a young, emerging company we have been able to operate worldwide and gained customers from as far afield as China, Canada, Australia, Poland, the US and Hawaii."

Beatsuite.com is a member of Codeworks Connect, the trade association for the North East's digital industries.

Sophie Lee, Marketing Manager at Connect, says: "The digital revolution brought on by the Internet has rejuvenated the North East's economy. The region's traditional industries have been succeeded by a thriving community of highly innovative and profitable businesses of which Beatsuite.com is one of the most exciting. The BBC's decision to use www.beatsuite.com in their report demonstrates the fact that the company is already attracting serious attention from major organisations across the globe."

Regional development agency One North-East pointed the BBC in the direction of www.beatsuite.com after meeting and supporting the company during the North East E-Commerce Awards, which it organised.

Tim Pain, Head of Enterprise and Business Support at One North East says: “Beatsuite.com are a great example of how businesses in the North East are making the most of the advantages E-commerce brings. Companies embracing ICT have found themselves competing in a much bigger and potentially lucrative marketplace – often winning orders from customers all over the world.”
