question on frames

hey guys, quick question:

i've got a page with four frames, a left, right, menu(top), and content(bottom)...i want it so that when i click a link in the menu frame, it opens in the content frame below it. i know i have to name frames and reference them in each link to which page i want it to open in, but i keep ****ing something up and cant figure it out. when iclick a link it opens in a new window, not the content frame. what do i do to resolve this problem?
