    Arrow Selling Source Code

    Hi,

1st I'm not sure if this is considered price-fixing, if it does please ignore this message:

We've been asked by a client to sell our CMS source code:
    1. we don’t want this code to reach our competitors.
    2. we're thinking of charging x% of the original contract value for the sc, is this how it's done?

if you need to contact me privately: gyonis[at]gmail[dot]com

    Thanx

If you don't want others to get use of the code you need to license it to the client and not sell it. That way you will retain the copyright over it. You would need to write up the terms of use that they get and the rights that you retain.

As for pricing, a percent of the original contract price is one way to go, but it would be better to determine the hours put into producing the code and base a price on that. If the code is pretty much something created expressly for the client and not something you expect to get much further use out of, then you should price it at your going rate times the hours spent coding.
