    Transparent PNG's in IE6

    I'm using a color-graduated background for my web page and using transparent 24bit PNG's for the graphics. They appear to be completely transparent, letting the graduated background show through in FF and IE7 but in IE6 the transparency does not work. The graphics' background shows as a contrasting color and it look terrible. I'm looking for an explanation as to why IE6 does this. I don't want to use transparent GIF's because they are 8 bit. I'm willing to trade time for quality.

    Unfortunately it's pretty tricky to repeat a png bg in IE.... if it's just a single image you can use this hack:

    I think this is what I used for my png "repeating" backgrounds (actually it just stretches them)
