noob page layout Q

as for compatibility, i am trying to fig out how my pages should be layed out for different resolutions. Should i design them in 800x600? or what? ty in advance.

The height does not matter. Most people design with a with of about 960px. Very few people have 800 x 600 resolutions anymore, but web designers still should make accommodations.
