Internet explorer issues

Hello, I am working on a website at the moment for a laboratory fume extraction specialists business called "Safelab Solutions", the website is almost done but I can not seem to get my jquery overlay thingy to work in IE, I am testing in IE8 and even that doesn't work but it said it would on the Jquery codes site.

and click the first image you can see what I am trying to achieve.
(it works fine in Chrome and FF) but I have no idea what the problem is for IE and its driving me insane as I cant get payed until this is fixed.

in IE the overlay goes crazy and the page can be scrolled and overlay doesn't cover the page.

If anybody has any insight as towards what the problem could be I would be ever so happy,
