I'm looking for a counter widget that will increment in random intervals over a specified period of time. I don't need page hits or any visitor or registrant stats--just something that "looks" like it's counting something.

Specifically, this widget is for a site that accepts applications for a particular program. I want the appearance of an increasing number of registrants.

Building the site on LAMP, but it could operate in any stand-alone format.

Did some searches and couldn't find anything. Anyone point me in the right direction?
