I have just been put in charge of a really old FreeBSD apache/mysql/php/frontpage server (4.8 old) The main reason that this server hasn't been moved to a RedHat platform is that the instructors have always used frontpage for their personal spaces. I need to find a solution that will run on a modern Linux platform and give as close to the same functionality as possible. I'm sure that very few of the instructors have used any frontpage extensions. The main concern is simplicity. Faculty have simple personal pages with professional information and the occasional link to a syllabus.

I have considered SFTP, and WebDav because Expression Web supports these as a publishing protocol. However, I would rather find a solution that would both offer a web-based WYSIWYG, and would handle authentication and space allocation via a database (preferably mysql) so that account creation and space allocation etc. could be automated as records are created in our main database.

Does anyone know of a good solid platform/package that I should look into?

Thanks
