Does the DNS nameservers still take 24-48 hours?

I know in the past the DNS nameservers change took 24-48 hour.

I wonder if it still takes so long? - with e.g. Godaddy. Doesn't it take a few minutes nowadays?

Depends on which DNS server, where it is and how frequently they get updated. DNS lookups to translate your domain name into the server I.P. addresses on thousands of DNS servers around the world. The biggest ones usually see the information within minutes to a few hours at most. Until they all get indexed there is a possibility that the nearest one to you that you hasn't be updated yet (chances go down over time as more and more are updated). For some small ones, it might take a few days.
