Filezilla wont connect to my mamp server?

Hi everyone! I am completely lost and could really use some help
I am using MAMP to set up a WordPress site. When I try to connect through filezilla it just keeps saying Could not connect to server.
I am using the information provided on the MAMP start page:
host:localhost
port:8889
username:root
password:root
....This is probably the wrong information but I don't know where to find the correct host, port, username and password. Any help is appreciated, thanks!!

Unless you are trying to connect via ftp from the same computer the site is hosted on, the host isn't localhost, but rather the domain.

The port for FTP is 21.
