Hello Everybody

I must apologize, I registered here awhile ago but was in the final stages of purchasing a house and have now just found the time to get back here and post an introduction, even though it has been a month since I moved in.

Anyways..

Hello to everyone!

I have been browsing these forums on and off for quite awhile and finally decided to sign up. I would normally join the graphic type sites and talk with web designers and developers there but found none of them really had a higher skill level then basic and I wanted to be able to share and give information, help and advice as well as be able to receive it.

Seeing that this community has a vast majority of skill levels in different areas and is a mature forums I thought its about time I join.

Lets see a bit about me..

I'm a 24 year old male that lives in the Capital Region of Canada. As such I work for the government as a systems software developer working on various applications 80% of which deal with the web. I have an advanced 3 year diploma in computer programming and systems development and am currently working on my masters degree in computing and information systems.

I'm also a certified Prince 2 Practitioner (Project Management) and have certification in Adobe Flash.

When it comes to web tools I use the adobe web suite and for most projects I use the Drupal OS CMS project. I'm proficient in most languages (XHTML, CSS, PHP, SQL, VB.NET/2005/2008, ASP, JAVA, JS) and have have a smaller but growing knowledge of Python, Ruby on Rails, and C#.

In the evenings I teach my fiancee web design so that she can learn enough to help with a small home business I do on the side. I have completed almost all of the site for the business and you can find it http://www.mkwk-solutions.com The only thing remaining is getting the portfolio loaded.

My knowledge in web design and development spans about 12 years which is the age when I first started to program for the web.

Other then that I'm getting married in October so I hope I don't disappear for awhile like I did when I first registered.

I hope to get to meet new people, make new friends, and learn as well as help others learn.

Hi Friend,
Glad you joined, welcome to the forum. The people on here are all very nice and the questions are usually pretty interesting. You can learn a lot by answering questions as well as asking. Sometimes I find myself learning how to do something so I can show the forum member how to solve his problem. It's a great way to broaden your knowledge about things you might only have a little experience in.

That's quite an impressive list of skills and experience you have. You'll surely be able to help a lot of people on here. Welcome aboard!

So do you work for HP?

Hi Hostingboy, nice to have you.

Makawak,
No I don't work for Hewlett Packard, I own HP Web Solutions, but people do ask from time to time. The HP is an abbreviation for High Performance. We've been deliberating on registering a different name for months now (we don't want to catch any flak from Hewlett Packard). We haven't decided on a good name and good URL yet, but I think we are close.

I learned some C# in school and really liked it, but I've stuck with PHP for web development. Are you doing C# game programming with XNA?

Welcome hostingboy,

hpwebsolutions,

Yeah I pretty well answered the question when I clicked on your link lol. Hopefully you guys don't get hit by them, from what I've heard and know they are a very reasonable company so they would understand I'm sure.

Yes thats exactly what I'm using C# for lol. I know how to make a simple little 2d graphic 3d world type game like ragnarok, however want to be able to go full out 3d and use it across an area larger then my lan. I know how to model and design 3d so the biggest thing is getting code to put it all together which is when I was introduced to C#.
