    "Naming" Issues

    To All,

If there is a dispute over similar domain names, what is the best way to solve the problem? Do domain name problems have legal solutions?

    Thank You

Depends on the names. If one of the domains is owned by someone that has registered a trademark for the name and the other site deals with the same products/services of the trademarked name, then they can use the courts and most likely succeed in obtaining the other name as an infringer on their trademark. Also possible if one site was set up to take advantage of the name of the other site, even if it's not registered. However if they're independent sites that just happen to have similar names, even with a similar target audience, you can try to negogiate with the owner of the other domain to buy it from them, but barring that there's probably little you can do but build a better site than them.
