need an admin script thing

well im currently new to the PHP/MySQL side of things but i just recently got a basic news script working on a site im making (nothing big or fancy). but what im currently needing is a admin area where i can keep the form that will add update and delete news articles. ive tried to adapt from other member system scripts out there but it either comes with a fist full of errors or doesnt show at all. so basically it shouldnt be very big just a main admin page and login page that will really only have 1 user in the database. so is there any help you can give me out there or tutorials or something ?

EDIT: it doesnt matter now but thanks for the help i fixed my problems, darn sql queris got me out with the wrong table name
