Internet Explorer Browser Issues

In IE7 and Firefox this page looks great. When you go to an older browser (mainly IE 6) it looks bad.

On the older browser the main navigation is spaced out and there is empty space on the top and bottom of the main image. I have checked my code over and over and can't figure it out. Surely there is an easy solution or a workaround.
