If it all goes wrong, am I liable?

I've been developing brochure sites for clients for a few years and am now thinking about creating my first e-commerce site. I've played with oscommerce and am confident I can deliver a stable, good quality site.

My worry with an e-commerce site is, if the database was to die or the site get hacked would I be open to getting sued? I'm assuming that my hosting company will have covered themselves in the small print.

Is this a real risk or am I just worrying unnecessarily?

Any advice greatly appreciated.
