A 3 column layout with fluid center - help!

Hi guys

I am trying to create a three column layout with a fluid center.

What I am planning to do is have a left and right column fixed, and if the user resizes the screen the center column contracts/expands.

There is going to be an image in it but if it shrnks smaller than the image I want it to disappear behind the left and right columns.

I have tried and tried and tried and I just cant seem to do it.

Is this possible?
