How Do You Get A Job As A Web Developer

I have been looking at job sites and looking at the requirements to become a developer.

Even though i have no experience in designing websites.

If i built a portfolio and started to learn the languages from www.w3schools.com does anyone think you can get a job as a web developer?

Also does a web developer need to know any programming like C or java?

w3schools is good for beginner tutorials. but its definitely not enough to get started as a full blown developer. and no you won't need to know C or java really. but you will probably need to know at least javaSCRIPT
