How to publish

I am new to web design.
If I was to design a website on dreamweaver, could somebody explain to me where I put the coding for it to be held online?

I know this sounds a silly question but im new to this.

You need a hosting service and a domain name provider (and a ISP which you already have).

Preferably get the three separately although many people get hosting and domain name from the same provider. You can get all three from your ISP but that is not generally recommended.

You will also need an FTP program to upload the code to the hosting service's server. You can use the free one built in to IE7 which is good enough.
