Add 'signup to newsletter' to template.

Hi, I have purchased a template web page, it is designed using html and a little javascript. It is nothing too extravagant. I want to add a 'signup for newsletter' to it.

Where do I start with this, do I need to use eg. an access database?

Well yes you need a databse, but along with that you need a script.
