form box editor

I am not exactly sure what to call what i am looking for. I need a form field on a page that the person can edit the text basically the same way that i can in the box that i am typing this question here. i can make things bold or underlined, by just clicking a button. without having to know any type of coding.

The text that is entered will be submitted to a database which i can already do. But i need this to be a form field so that i can do that.

any suggestions?
