make an active real time stock ticker

so what i want to try and do is create a real time stock ticker for my site. i dont mind using another site like google or yahoo to get my stocks but how would i create somthing that would allow a user to type in a stock and then get a quote for that stock on the same page???? while also not going to google or whatever....
