Help! Website looks different in different browsers

I'm wondering if anyone will be able to help out with a problem. I'm building a website for a friend of mine...I built the entire site without ever looking at it in internet explorer (yeah..probably pretty dumb) anyways... I got the whole thing to look exactly like I want it in firefox but my menus and such don't look right in IE.

I know I've probably made a number of errors... any suggestions would be appreciated

Have you been using some softwares or adding the codes by hand? If you are not that experienced developing websites, you may be having better options considering choosing from among hundreds of free Html and CSS web templates listed across the web. They are easily editable and you will not be having any problems creating the same effects while your pages are viewed on browsers.
