Illustrator or Fireworls..HELP!

I need to create a homepage for a company i made up for my IT class...We were told to use either illustrator or fireworks to come up with the design...my question is...which program is best when making a website (im not talking about the html coding)...i need help with the differences bettween these two programs so i know what to use them properly for..

all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Fireworks is made specifically for the web. If they just want an image mockup then maybe illustrator may have more tools, and do more things, but was designed for print.
