Creating a quick search database in Dreamweaver MX 2004

Hi,

I'm using Dreamweaver MX 2004 and I've built a basic HTML site. I now require some form of text field (like a search box) that can be placed on one of the pages. Once a name or number is entered into this search box, I need to enable it to scan a spread sheet for matching text and then simply say yes or no, if matching numbers or text are found.

It just needs to search a simple excel sheet, but I'm not sure if this would require a large amount of programming skill, or whether I could download some form of plug-in, that could make this much faster to implement.

Does anyone have any ideas for this? I would really appreciate some help, if anyone could recommend some kind of free extension?
