I'm building a website that contains many businesses' information such as name, address, city, state, zip, website etc...
A friend brought up the question about needing permission to repost the business information. We weren't sure if permission was needed so I did some research and couldn't find anything about it. Does anyone know of any links to legal website stuff about reprinting business information?

If that business information is public domain (i.e. can be found in the phone book), you're just fine to post it on your site. As a matter of fact, the companies would probably be more than happy that you did. Free advertising doesn't anger too many people :-)
It can only get tricky when you're talking about reprinting a company's content, or privileged information, or their logo/trademark in some cases.
