I have been asked to create a web site for a friend. He is asking for a basic web site in which his company can create login accounts for his customers and they can log in and look at the orders and where they stand in terms of processing. These orders would also be inputed by his employees.

I have heard some suggestions of using maybe Microsoft Access to create a database.
What do you all suggest I look into doing in order to create this basic site?
