This is my first post - so hi guys

I'm a student currently starting a final year project in the last year of my degree. I'm working on a mountain biking website, but I would like a news carousel or rotator as featured on a couple of websites (www.bikeradar.com, www.moredirt.co.uk)

Does anyone know how they work, or where to even get started?

The website I am building as the project is www.traildirt.co.uk but this is very much work in progress. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
