just out of interest, what kind of photos are you looking for - anything in particular. I get all my photos from a digital camera =D heh sometimes you just have to go do it yourself. I often find there are no good photos of what i need so i finally got round to gettin a camera and now i do it myself.
i think that the microsoft clipart gallery is royalty free and i know they have a shed load of photos n stuff in there. Can't remeber the exact URL but its gonna be microsoft.com/office or something. Peace buddy.

Use www.istockphoto.com
They have good photos and they only charge a couple bucks for each one.

been in this boat
Been in this boat, used canstockphoto.com for a bit, i guess its like istockphoto, who knows maybe the same thing.
It's surprising that you can buy EXCLUSIVE pics (only you have the rights) to hardcore naked women for cheaper than a license to use a picture of a bluebird or whatever, lol go figure

http://www.sxc.hu/
It's already been mentioned, but it's great. Large database, and most of the images are free for use, and the others you just need to get in contact for approval!

Basically I would stay away from "free" images. They usually aren't worthwhile at all. There are places however that you can get cheap photos like this place:
http://www.bigstockphoto.com less than $2.50 for individual downloads and if you buy a bunch of credits at once it just gets cheaper. Seriously... spend the $2.50 to get a quality image instead of some cheap thing.

I don't see why you advise staying away from free images... http://www.sxc.hu/ is free and it's fine.

Excellent and FREE resource....
A Really great and totally free resource I have found is www.morguefile.com They have a search function which generally gets the photo's that you want. All the photo's are user submitted and free for commercial use as well.
Hope this helps!

Re: site link.
Cool. That website was really cool. I like all of the stock photos. What program do you think they used to make the images?

A great source of items for web design is:
http://www.blemeshack.com/
They have a Search Engine that lets you search other sites for graphics, images, Video, Flash, Sounds, etc. It's more of a meta search engine site than a particular database - because they index other sites.
There is also a tool to let you store the code to images and graphics you find, to create a personal collection.

Google images are pulled from web pages and you should assume that they are all copyrighted.
----
A note to Nathan (spiderindia)--I got your spam email today:
"...I went through your website , its looking quite old and outdated ... would like to update your website with some additional features like online sales..."
Pretty rude to send to a professional web development company, especially since you obviously didn't visit the website in question as there is nothing there to sell so adding online sales would be pretty pointless, wouldn't it?

iStockphoto's collection is massive. I have been trying to get my pics uploaded for the past year, but no luck. They seem to be quite fussy on the quality of images to be uploaded. Are all stock photo sites like this? They have denied my 'maximum quality' jpg and raw image files, all according to their size specs, and said it 'is not up to standard' ... or something like that. I dont understand. I assume it all depends on the technology of your digi camera (more than 5 mega pixels)
On the other hand, I'm glad iStockPhoto is now providing resources for flash designers.
Must go check them other sites out.
Thanks gnubler.

"Standards" is both technical and artistic standards. If they aren't accepting yoou photos and they meet the technical requirements, then the picture itself doesn't fit the sort of images they are looking for.
